Any alternatives to the stock market when it comes to investments?

I’m curious to know if there are any other serious alternatives to investing other then the stock market?

Other then putting money in bank and letting it gain interest what first comes to mind is buying gold, silver, etc. Granted how much it’s worth is kinda tied into the market as well as I understand. It can be just as risky but at least there is the benefit to actually physically holding something of value. I would guess if you relocate to another country you could always convert it into currency where as you might have trouble doing that with the dollar if things continue the way they are going. Would like to do this slowly but the price is so high now (for gold I mean) and it seems like it could go higher.

Are there any other things one should look into and consider? Not looking for what is less risky just other options in general.
